Tapani Rinne Kuvaaja: Kai Savonniemi
Concert: Tapani Rinne

Sat 2 March at 18.30

Tapani Rinne’s music encounters Marja Pirilä’s artworks in an atmospheric concert.

Sounds will echo through the exhibition space – with some of the performed music tracing back to around ten years ago when Tapani Rinne composed a soundscape for Marja Pirilä’s exhibition Milavida. Newer works from Rinne’s solo albums will also be heard, along with improvised material inspired on the spot by the space and the surrounding artworks. Rinne will perform his concert with bass clarinet and electronics.

Tapani Rinne is an internationally renowned musician and composer, a pioneer figure of ambient jazz and world music-infused techno. He is known for his trailblazing work with acts such as RinneRadio and the Sámi yoik singer Wimme Saari. Rinne’s music can manifest as anything from the soft melancholy of a misty summer night to stark techno beats offering a full-body shock: his overall concept of ‘mindscape music’ is always strong and emotional.

Sound design for the concert by Aleksi Myllykoski.
