Hannele Kylänpää & Päivi Sirén: Made Visible

18.1. - 9.3.2025

Produced by the Finnish Art Society, Made Visible brings Hannele Kylänpää’s sculptures and Päivi Sirén’s paintings and drawings to Kunsthalle Helsinki.

In the works of Kylänpää and Sirén, small gestures gain significance – the pieces invite viewers to pause, stretching out the moment at hand. The exhibition features both early and new works by each artist.

Hannele Kylänpää is best known for her tender bronze sculptures of children and animals. Her works capture the poignancy of everyday moments, drawing our attention to the sincere presence of those around us.

Päivi Sirén, a master of subtle nuances, creates minimalist paintings that encourage meditative immersion. Her pieces achieve a soft luminosity built up through dozens of thin paint layers. On closer inspection, vertical and horizontal lines become visible, creating another dimension within the work.

Made Visible roots the traditional art forms of sculpture and painting in the varied spaces of Kunsthalle Helsinki. Bronze and ceramic sculptures are displayed in areas originally designed for sculpture, while the painting galleries showcase two-dimensional works. The artists’ works also intersect in the exhibition, yet each distinctly claims the Kunsthalle Helsinki spaces with a unique voice.
