This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Young Artists exhibition. Throughout its history, the Young Artists exhibition has cast the spotlight on interesting newcomers
Celebrating the anniversary, the Artists’ Association of Finland presents an artist talk with former young artists. The discussion includes topics on the different themes in past Young Artists exhibitions as well as how it felt to be a young artist. The participating artists share their memories from their own Young Artist exhibitions.
The exhibition, which had its debut at Kunsthalle Helsinki in 1939, has lived through several changes in the art field, circumstances under which art has been made as well as changes in exhibition production.
The discussion presents artists Maija Blåfield, Heli Hiltunen, Jarmo Mäkilä and Vesa-Pekka Rannikko. The discussion is moderated by PhD Maija Koskinen, former director of Kunsthalle Helsinki, whose recent PhD investigates the Kunsthalle’s exhibition production.
